    Default Brake fluid level

My Treadle vac. Rebuilder said to only fill the unit 1/4 inch from the top of the reservoir not from the cap!!! He said the extra could leak out the internal vent inside the reservoir (not the cap vent). Just checking with the experts on where you guys are topping off yours thanks...

It's like the cooling system: never fill up to the cap! 1/4" from the top seems to be realistic. It's about what I'm doing with my '56 Biarritz which has the same brake system.

I was just not sure.. 1/4 inch down from the cap is a lot higher than 1/4 inch down from top of reservoir.. thanks

the shop manual requests 1/4 inch of top of reservoir.

Most folks who rebuild the tredelvac units install a better gasket.

The original gasket was lubercated by that little pipe that allowed some fluid to get to the gasket.

    My rebuilder plugged that vent.

I hope I am remembering corectly.

Maybe someone can confirm or correct this.
