    Default Hood hinge removal

My hood hinges are just gone!! Was going to send them out for rebuilding but looked and looked for tips on removing the third hidden bolt. Some said to remove the inner kick panels others to remove the fresh air hoses??? Just need some info from somebody that has done it thanks for any helpful info thanks.

Bill, the third bolt is behind the kick panel in each front foot well. Remove the panel and you'll readily see the nut/bolt end.

    Bill,

Once you have your hood hinges removed, here are a couple of tips.

First, look for cracks, Mine had stress cracks so we welded some gussets in this location in order to strengthen the hinge

Of course, we also welded the cracks.

The next thing you can do to fix your hinges yourself is to find someone with a strong press and squash those rivet pivots so the hinges are nice and tight again.

One of my friends bought a large bolt cutter at Harbor freight ground down the sharp cutting edges on the cutter.

This tool can often be used to squeeze those rivets in lots of old car hinges.
