I am hoping someone can help me determine a likely date code for the side glass for my C56S3852. I have been unable to determine a build date for my car. The glass currently on my car has been replaced years ago and has no etchings. I am purchasing new glass and would like to include a date code that is reasonable for my car. The only dates that I can verify are:
Invoice date is 8-5-57, Instrument cluster date is May 1957. Any date code close will be of help.
Thanks,
Don Kelnhofer

Don:
You can determine the date of production by looking at your data plate located on the "A" pillar of the drivers' side door. Look at the second line :
01-7-1B6K-???-x
Where the question marks are is the production date of your car could be, as an example, 809, which would indicate August 9, 1957. So look at your data plate to find the production date. Hope this helps. John

I have also the problem finding the right data code for the glass.
Serial number is: C56B1994
Body Specif is: 01-1G6K-1208-8

The actual date codes on the glass are:
AS2 95
AS2 105
AS2 75

Reinhard:
Since the production date of 1994 is 12/08/1955, it would stand to reason that the glass codes: 95 could be September 1955; 105 could be October 1955; and 75 would be July 1955. Seems to me that if you replace a piece and put the original code back on the replacement, would be sufficient. Just my thoughts. Good luck. John

Hello John,

thank you for the information.

As I need all new glass I will put the 95 (September) code on the replacement glass.
