Welcome to the Forum. You should be able to get all of your questions answered here.

Your car was originally two-toned bronze. I believe it was repainted to solid bronze by the 2nd owner. Here is the link to 2709's history.

You stated that it was in England before you bought it. Do you have any details about its English history and ower(s)?

The file has an older picture of your car. Do you have any recent pictures?

Rene, there are serveral ways to get a car's VIN and access a car's history.

1) THROUGH THE OWNER'S USER NAME

if you click on Gary's User Name in the message he sent to you, it will take you his public profile, there on the right is his car VIN. Using only the last four digits, 1614, select SEARCH above and then enter 1614 in KEYWORD, then select SEARCH TITLES ONLY, answer the security question, then SEARCH NOW. That will take you to any thread with 1614 in the title. Of course if your are searching for car 1956, you're going to get a lot more hits, but the car will be in there somewhere.

PRACTICE: Try clicking on USER NAME Urgestein.

2) SEARCHING FOR A KEYWORD OR NAME

Select SEARCH above and then enter Lilly in KEYWORD, then select SEARCH ENTIRE POST, answer the security thread, then SEARCH NOW. That will give you any thread where the word LILLY appeared. You could have selected SEARCH TITLES ONLY, and that would have worked in this case, since Lilly is considered a notable original owner and we put the names of notables in the car title field.

PRACTICE: Try searching for Leeb or Austria or Wolfgansee

3) THE MEMBER LIST

If you know the member's name just look him/her up in the MEMBER LIST. If they have identified their car(s) the VIN will be listed and then follow search instruction 1)

We try only to use the last four digits of the car instead of the whole VIN. Those digits are unique to the car, the preceeding ones can be shared by a lot of cars and using them only makes the search more cumbersome and subject to keystroke error. It also avoids the confusion between O & 0, and 1 & I, which has frequently happened.

Rene, with this information you can now rule the world!

It's a fairly rare two tone. The first sets of numbers are the two colors.

Rene, this is in response to you private message to me.

Could it be Briar Brown Metallic 1952-H (1956)

This was a Lincoln color name and code. I have no idea whether Continental Code/Color 08-Deep Bronze was the same color as the Lincoln Briar Brown Metallic. Plus I have never seen documentation that Continental used Lincoln colors.

As Barry said, the paint codes were the first two spec numbers that appeared on the data plate. In your car's case 08/17 translates to: Upper: Deep Bronze, Lower: Medium Bronze

I believe our history for 2709 tells it all:
