Greetings all,

My name is Rich and I'm a new member here on the forum. I have lusted for a 57 for a while and am now ready to start the process. A few things I have learned with past vehicles is to learn as much as you can before you pull the trigger. I believe this forum is the best path to debunk my pre-conceived assumptions and learn rather than reinvent the wheel.

Looking forward to times ahead!

Welcome, I wish this site had existed 10 years ago, when I got mine. What would we do without the internet?

Probably have more free time, and spent quality time tinkering around the garage!

Hi Rich
Welcome to the forum
I joined one December, just wanting to learn a little more about these fantastic vehicles.
2 months later I made an impulse purchase of my 57.
Best mistake I ever made in my life!
:D

You won't regret joining. I joined this forum and "hung around" for 13 months before making my purchase. The information and knowledge I gathered was invaluable in my decision, and so far there have been no surprises and definitely no regrets.

Jim, I don't believe we have the VIN of your Mark II. Would you mind giving it to us so we can add it to the Registry?

Rich, welcome to the forum. The learning never stops here. This forum has a great group of people that know more about the Mark II than anyone.

Good idea to purchase a Mark II which has a documented history. Check with Pat before you purchase. Also, members may know the history of a Mark II so ask what does anyone know about the car before you purchase which can save headaches about what the problem areas may be such as areas to check for rust, etc. Also only 444 as 1957's so may be more limiting than keeping your options open for a 1956 or 1957.

Despite all the different numbers that have been reported - There were 572 "1957 Continental Mark IIs".

Of those, 439 were produced in Calendar Year 1957.

Here's the math:

The first Officially Designated 1957 Mark II was 3418
The last 1957 Mark II was 3989
3989-3418+1=572 1957 Mark IIs

The First Mark II produced in Calendar Year 1957 was 3551
The last 1957 Mark II was 3989
3989-3551+1=439 Mark IIs Produced in Calendar Year 1957.

No doubt Pat is correct on the numbers as he knows this information better than anyone. That is what I mean when I say check with Pat. If he has the cars history, he can tell you if the colour has been changed inside or out, etc.
