Good morning everybody. My power seat function of up and down was not working. The forward and back is working great. After taking the motor out I noticed that the worm drive was completely seized with really thick grease. Upon removing that and cleaning the worm drive it seemed to move very very freely. After reinstallation the motor moved briefly and then stopped. This happened several times. I removed the motor and noticed that the nylon gear wheel was partially stripped in a few places. My question is, when replacing this gear wheel with a new one and putting the motor back into place, do I have to move that heavy spring forward or backwards or just leave it where it is and reconnect the worm gear wherever the seat is in it's current position? So to understand my question what I'm asking is, do I just adjust the worm gear to lock into the mounting bolts where the seat is sitting without doing anything to the large spring or torsion bar as it looks? How will the seat motor know if it has to go forward or backwards without being either fully extended or fully in? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
