    Default operating temperatures

    Operating temperatures,
Can anyone tell me what the temperatures should be on the 368 engines in hot climates. Not knowing what to expect and not a previous ford guy, I am not sure what is normal.
I have a 160 thermostat and in the hot Florida weather the temps go between 190 and 200 without the AC on.
    Thanks Cuz vinnie

    Vinnie:
What is the indication of your temperature gauge? I would think that anything below 210 F should be fine. Do you have a six blade fan installed? I suggest double checking the total cooling system configuration (heavy duty radiator core, six blade fan, by-pass tube, etc) and make sure all is up to original specs or better. Some folks install an auxiliary electric fan shroud to drive in parades. Good luck. John

according the workshop manual, the thermostat begins to open between 168 and 173 and is fully opened at 192.

I think, the temperature between 190 and 200 is high but normal.

When overhauling my radiator, we have mounted a more powerful radiator network, so that the temperature of my engine moves between 160 and 170.

The measurement is carried out with a laser thermometer.

Thanks John, In my hot and humid climate I was thinking about an auxiliary electric fan but thought the generator would not handle that. Everything is stock on the car, fan blade, radiator etc. Radiator had recently been cleaned and back flushed, new water pump. I do not rely on the electric temp gauge, installed a mechanical temp gauge to be safe on the readings. Vin

    Vincent,

maybe, the right translation is "radiator core".

The company, that has repaired the radiator has separated the radiator frame from the core.

The original core has been replaced by an improved version with a higher water flow.

    The frame is original.
