Where can I decode or lookup a vin for a Mark II.?

Just the VIN is pretty easy. All Marks IIs start with an *C then the model year, e.g., 56, then the month of the year such as 5 (May), then the serial number such as 1459, followed by another *. After October, where 0 was used for the month number, then letters were used to indicate the month of manufacture, such as A for November, B for December of 1956, etc.

The Patent Plate also contains information about the style and body specification including exterior color and interior colors and fabrics.
