    Default Miles per gallon

    Yesterday I went on a drive I filled up before and after and I got 15.6 mpg avg sped was about 70 is that normal. High or low side ?? Just wondering just because I'm curious

    I think Mark II's were rated at 16 mpg at 50mph, so I'd say your 15.6 mpg is above average. If you think about it, that's quite good from a big V-8 in a 5000# car.

    I did a couple hundred mile trip last year and got 15, thought that was pretty good for a car that size.

    I average 16-18 depending on my amount of city/ highway time.

    It is interesting to note that one of the selling points for Desert Classics, when they were "remanufacturing" Mark IIs in Nogales in the early 1970s (the time of the first "oil crisis" in the USA), was that they claimed the Mark II would get 16 to 17 miles per gallon. An impressive figure for a luxury car of that era.

    The Mark II is the postercar for Smiles Per Gallon rather than miles per gallon.
