    1. What happened to Elvis's bumper guards?
    2. Auto show models used to look a lot fancier.

I never knew this car existed until I saw it at Graceland in 2018,fell in love with it and by shear luck came across one at a house I was working in and finally took it home in 2021.

    Alan:
According to forum history, 3286 never had front bumper guards. Front bumper guards were mainly included on cars sold in states with front license plates. Because 3286 was purchased in Miami, 3286 did not have front bumper guards.
I think the panel and bumper gaps on 3286 are amazing. Clearly, whomever restored 3286 knew what they were doing.

A minor point. Customers could have ordered bumper guards for any Mark II, including those going to non-front-license states.

If it never had bumper guards, why does it have holes in the front bumper?

That's a really good question for whomever restored that car

Agreed. I have several photos of this car. None of them show bumper guards or holes in the bumpers. Looks to me like there was a bumper change after the car got back to Graceland.
