Although I’ve gone to a couple small shows at a local hamburger emporium today took car for its first long drive, 37 miles out to a real car show. Hey up to now 37 miles amounts to a long drive.:):) The temperature was in the 90’s but the car ran well. Only problem I notice was the heater control valve that I made does not completely shut of flow to the driver’s side heater core. Thus opening the fresh air vent turned out to not be such a good idea. Also I have yet to charge the AC system as that has not been a high priority item.

This car show is put on by a couple member of the club I belong to. It was at a veteran’s medical center and this was its seventh year and with over 200 cars it has been steadily growing. What is unique about it is it is not open to the general public rather it is strictly for the residents of the medical center. Seeing as how these guys have limited means and don’t get out much, if ever, this is a really big event for them. Apparently it gives them something to look forward to and talk about for weeks after.

Didn’t take to many pictures. But there were your typical assortment of cars, model T’s, customs, muscle, a ton of Corvettes, a few Ferrari’s, a Rolls-Royce, and of course one MKII.:D

The next show is at the Illinois Railway Museum August 1st. Over 600 cars typically, if it rolls on wheels you will probably see it there. Plus naturally there are trains and street cars to ride. If anyone is in the area that weekend and looking for something to do (Shelly?) this I my opinion is one of the better shows.

Thanks for the information on that show. I'll try to be there. Possibly my son Dave will bring one of his GTOs.

That is a really terrific thing to do for the residents. Well done. Gary

I wore mine at Amelia Island. Stuck out like a sore thumb.

It's great that they do the show for vets. I've done a couple of nursing home shows. Very rewarding.

Yeah, that red shirt really made you stand out. It couldn't have been the fact that everyone else was a good foot shorter than you. :)

Those were the Hagerty Junior Judges. They gave our lowly Porsche 3rd place behind two several million dollar cars.:D

Did you read the article I wrote?

Thats cool. The only way these collector cars will have a future is if the young generation falls in love with them. Very smart idea. Gary
