I saw this as a new product in Hemmings. These guys have a good name and I have purchased products from them before with great results. I am going to try for dark iridescent blue for my Mark II and let you know the results. Gary

Gary, you might also take a look at paintscratch.com as they offer a similar product as well as custom matching though I'm not sure how that part works. Mike

I just ordered a touch-up bottle from paintscratch.com for my '74 Mark IV, I'll let you all know how it turns out. My car was repainted about 10 yrs ago and it appears was an attempt to be the original color. Their web site disclaims the color being accurate based on the mfg code and encourages sending a sample of the color. I didn't try to send a sample (like where from?) so I'll see how close their mix of the original code turns out.

I suppose different color paints will fade at a higher rate over 10 years time. So some pens might match better than others. Good Luck!:)

Most of my Lincolns have removable panels on the "A" pillar near the hinges. They cover access to the hinge bolts.

Reds, or anything with a red toner in the color are usually the worst culprits. The most aggravating thing from a damage repair standpoint is that as red toner "washes" out of a color over time the finish may still overall look pretty good. Drives the painter crazy and is sometimes what's wrong when a touch up bottle or paint pen is off a bit. A further problem is when a painter is doing a car all over, knows he isn't matching anything and is a bit careless mixing his/her color.

I received the touch up bottle from paintscratch.com They do mix custom colors with a sample. I simply ordered the color with the correct Ford paint code "Med. Dark Gold Poly 6m" for a '74 Mark IV. Their product isn't close. The gold on the car is a bright gold color and the mix they sent me is Dark Greenish Brown. They clearly state on their web site to send a sample as they will not accept any pre 1981 color mixes ordered by code number. So $25.00 down the drain.

I have noticed that old car gold was more greenish than newer car golds. Looks good on the old cars, but not if it doesn't match what you've got Shelly...bummer.
