I know it is on ebay but this seemed interesting especially the price. Does it have historical significance beyond the ordinary? As a fourm should we have some sort of collective war chest to purchase historical items for the collective good? Start it with a 100.00 donation either voluntary or the price of membership? Gary

I am selling on ebay this week a*large collection of Lincoln dealer color and upholstery books.* These belong to a dear friend of mine who has collected the books over a period of 30 years.* Included is an especially fine and complete collection of items relating to the 1956 Mark II, including a near mint color and upholstery book for that car!* So please be sure to take a look at my other auctions.* Thank you.
Incredible, how do I even begin to describe one of the most lavish dealer paint and upholstery books ever designed!* This is lush!* Measuring a whopping 19" wide by 15-1/4" tall, this is large format.* This is the*dealer's Continental Mark II Paint and Upholstery book for 1956.* To start at the biginning seems best.* A "leather grained" fabric cover embelished in gold letters, we open the cover to reveal the index.* Introduction: a message from William Clay Ford, Spirit of the Continental, Decor-finish, Colors-fabric and leather, Custom color selections, Continental carpeting, Paint finish samples, index of color treatments, trim schemes, white leather trim schemes, options of leather welt trim, Mark II leather, All leather trim schemes, Nylon, Leather and Nylon trim schemes, Matelasse, Leather and Matelasse, Broadcloths, all Broadcloth, Illustration, Broadcloth and Nylon schemes, Illustration, Braodcloth and Matlasse trim schemes, Photo Illustration.* The Spirit of the Continental is set to rich color photos and water color backgrounds followed by two more pages regarding decor and finish accompanied by another spectacular image of*a woman in red and her white Continental.* Then we have a word from the Continental's Chief Stylist, John Reinhart, and a three page fold out illustration of the many continental solid tone paint combinations.* 14 high gloss*paint samples and color chart follow.* All previous pages are printed on a linen texture semi-gloss paper.* As we move on to the leather and fabric samples we find these attached to heavy matt black card board stock.* For the finale we have a vision of a stylish woman reflected in the continentals rear deck.*
Condition of this book is near mint uncirculated and has been cherished by it's owner for many many years.* Always stored wrapped in towels, and with a cotton cloth wrapping the paint chips, it has been meticulously maintained throughout its lifetime.* While there are a few very minor dents in the back cover I can imagine no finer example existant.* Buyer's must have 100% positive feedback, be an ebay member in good standing,*or be pre-approved before bidding.* Enjoy the photos!
