"You are bidding on a windshield from a 1956 1957 Continental Mark II. This is in very good condition. There are no chips cracks or blemishes, but it is a use windshield and there is some (what I call) hazing. There are no reproduction windshields available at this time (Mark II enterprises advertise them but if you contact them they will tell you the have non available). So don't miss out Sold "AS-IS". Payment due within 7 days of end of auction. Shipping is local pick up only. I will ship this item in the Us only, but I will build a wooden crate cost about $40.00 to $50.00 plus the cost to ship it UPS. Which depending on where you live could be over a $100.00 You have up to 6 months to pick up item. I may be going back to Missouri in 2 or 3 weeks, if so I could bring it. I also know of a driver that sometimes goes back East. If you have any questions please ask. Thanks and GOOD LUCK!"
Well Gary I guess us Canucksters are SOL. He will ship in the US only. I wonder how many orders it would take PPG (the original supplier) to make a batch. With possibly 1000 to 1500 Mark II's still around I'm sure that 300-400 windsheilds could still be required. Like I mentioned before, what is your Mark II worth without a windsheild? Mine is not too bad yet with minor wiper scratching and a stone chip "star", but that chip could turn into a crack.
$399 starting bid for a hood and only $199 for the windsheild? I think a hood would be an easy thing to get compared to the windsheild.

Hi Don. Your comment about what is a Mark II worth without a windshield is the reason I mentioned the windshield in this post. I could not find the comment or I would have let you know directly. Anyway, they have been doing this to us Canucks for years to the point I arranged for a Customs Broker to handle such an item so it is sent directly to an address in the US and then brokered to me. Also, so members know and we are not competing against each other in a specialized market, I will not be bidding even though a spare windshield is probably a good idea. Hi Pat. Gary

I wonder if that is an original underhood blanket or just a beat up replacement

It looks like a Narragansett replacement.

Dang, I'd have paid a lot for that windshield if I hadn't have found a crummy repro a long time ago. Of course, all the money for my restoration is gone, anyway, so the point it moot, I guess.
It appears that the windshield sold for $360.00. That's seems like a good value. I made a couple of bids, given that my son lives in Boise and could have picked it up for me, as my existing windshield has considerable pitting, but didn't need it so badly that I wanted to drive up the price unreasonably.

Pitting and small scratches can be polished out. Mine has stone chips in it that could be filled but there is no guaranty that they wont spread:(
