I drove the Mark IV to the storage garage to switch cars with the Mark II.
BTW the new exhaust manifold and the dual exhaust addition on the IV are awesome. It looks pretty mean from the rear and sound great too. I'll post a pic of that soon. BUT...

THe thing is I was about 1 mile away from the garage and suddenly the Mark II quits and there I am stranded on the side of the road imagining myself waiting for the flatbed on a holiday weekend. Popped the hood and fortunately quickly found the high voltage wire from the coil to the distributor had completely come out of the coil and was flopping around. When's the last timw you had that happen?? Put it back in and it fits nice and tight... just like I would have previously done. I'm wondering if someone screwed with it in the storage garage. It's a big space that I share with about 50 others. I have a nice big cover but that wouldn't deter anyone from popping the hood.

I hope it's brown!

:D I got a deduction for that.

Yes, I think you're paranoid.

However, I did aggravate the hell out of one of my now wife's boyfriends. After they came back from a date I rearranged two of his four spark plug wires and nearly died from laughter as they loaded his car on a flat bed.

Hey, I was only 17. Cut me some slack.

Shelly,
If you're really concerned, put some locks on the cover so it can't be removed without a key.

Ours was stored 2000 miles away with a son that didn't practice closing the garage door. A few things disappeared from it before we got it down here a couple of years ago.
It wasn't until he "lost" some of his own equipment that he started closing and locking the doors.

Shelly,

The exact same thing happened to me. I drove my car to a store it ran fine I came out to start the car and it would not fire up.... I called for a tow truck and as I was waiting I found the coil wire had popped off.. I reattached and was back in business.... I am positive no one messed with my car because I had some one waiting in the car while I was in the store. to this day I have no clue how this happened.

My (brown) coil wire has never came off, but long ago, I was driving along and the car just dies. Luckily, it was across from a service station. I walked over and asked if they could look at it. A few of the guys pushed it into the station and they opened the hood and discovered that one of the bale clips on the distributor cap had popped off. The mechanic snapped it back on and the car fired right up. $25.00 later, I was on my way again. :o My guess is that my regular mechanic had not snapped it on tight the last time he worked on it.
