Just curious as to everyone's opinions about these two cars.
I put this in the Marketplace since they're for sale.

Both perfect examples of my premise that the only one that wins in a Mark II restoration is the next owner.

I prefer the blue to the white, both exquisite. Probably worth every penny, but good luck getting those cars sold @ even 2/3 current asking price.

The white one is VERY good! Why the leather strap on the jack behind the spare?

Hi Jim,

Stan,

My car had the exact same leather strap holding the jack to the floor behind the spare.

Does it attach to anything?

Does it attach to anything?

Just checked the auth. manual and it does show the strap.....is there a loop it attaches to?........I will guess there would be.

Yes, there is a chrome bar on the strap with two eyelets on either end for screws that attach it to the floor. The jack is held in place by tightening the strap via the attached buckle. (belt style)

You said it attaches to the floor..do u know if it is the same "loop" as the side tie down?

Stan,

I don't know if you know this, but the jack was moved around during production. Some cars have the jack mounted on the right side of the trunk, right against the right quarter panel. So, if you are judging a car and the jack is not mounted behind the spare and is where I mentioned above, it's likely that it is correct. Buddy Holiday explains the moving of the jack in his book.

When you say loop, are you talking about the bar that holds down the strap to the floor?

Stan,

I haven't judged or seen a car with the jack on the side so I can't answer your question, But I will be on the look out for it in the future.

The metal hold down loop is called a footman's loop. Mine is behind the spare, too.

Thanks Ian. That's the way we have it listed in the Registry. Good to know the VIN.

Would you consider revising the Registry to add the full Body Spec entry from the VIN plate?
And for this vehicle, the owner has now changed so the database will need updating :D

Oh, duh!! I see. The car was sold to Veit. Got it. Change made to my master list along with all the other additions and clarifications you and others have provided. (will send to Shelly as Rev 6 today)
But the Body Spec is listed (less the date and sequence). No, I'm not going to try and add all of those. .. Analysis / paralysis, ya know?

The blue car is VIN C56G3828 with Body Spec 19-1A1A-N.
Interesting as the Registry shows 20-1A1A. The car is Medium Blue Iridescent (19) as shown on the actual VIN plate so is the Medium Green Iridescent (20) as listed in the Registry likely wrong?
Chuck: current location of the car is Portland, OR.

Hi Jim,
I noticed a couple yrs ago u were intrested in the Todd/ Taylor MkII. Having 2 of them in Ventura, what are your thoughts?

Stan, it was Barry Norman that first brought up the subject of the Taylor/Todd car in this thread:http://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31655&p=219601&hilit=taylor+mark+ii#p219601 and I was curious also as to what happened to it, and if it really was upholstered to match her eyes.
Nick gave us the answer and I was satisfied. I didn't know that there were two cars reported to have been linked to her.
Are these the two?

This thread has become very informative. Thanks to all posters!
