The 23rd Palos Verdes Concours was held Sunday at a new venue, Los Verdes Golf Course, in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. It was a great show on a spectacular day—temperatures in the 80s—with ocean views from virtually the entire venue. They had a selective collection of approximately 200 cars—the featured marques were Cadillac, Ferrari, and cars with Darrin coachwork.

They also had a special class for postwar Lincolns (yes, they know the Mark II isn’t really a Lincoln) that featured two Mark IIs (1209 and 2315). The Mark IIs had a good day—we won Best in Class and Mike Porto’s car won “Best Design in Show.” That’s the second time that the Mark II has won “Best Design” at PV; pretty impressive given that the show inevitably features cars by a notable designer; this year it was Dutch Darrin. The winner is selected by the head of the automobile design program at the Art Center College of Design, the country’s most-respected automobile design school—in other words, it’s yet another acknowledgement of the timeless beauty of the Mark II by someone who is extraordinarily qualified to make that judgment.
