Can I get a VIN Decode? C56B2223
10 6K3J 1280 5

This car is coming up for sale very soon. It's a COMPLETE 56 with AC in great original condition. It's yellow! I'm waiting for the sun to come out to take pics.

The 1280 is confusing, it is supposed to be the month and day of production. 12 is OK for December but 80???
5- is for the production number on the day it was built

I'm sure someone can jump in and give us all the meaning of 1280.

Possibly 1230 on the date?

Why didn't I think of that, thanks. I guess with the S/N 2223 it would be December 30th 1955?

Zowie! Another car unheard from since 1975! Also some interesting D.S.O. features.

The spec code is definitely 1230! The one for the previous car, 1222, is
14-1B6H-1230-4.

Elmer Woodard has sent me information on this car, which I have added to the ownership history. Also the car was manufactured with a lightweight frame and had stone deflectors welded to the bottom of the floor pans. The car was initially sent to the Sales Division in Robertson, MO. We don't know why it went there nor how long it was there.

O.k, it's my turn to go, . . .WHAT!? I'm not the expert y'all are, but that's really a new one on me. Can you elaborate on that Pat? Was the lightweight frame made from different material, a lighter gauge, or maybe some bracing removed? And "stone deflectors"?? To what end? I can't get my head around that one either . . . maybe to keep errant rocks from getting up in the radiator? Seems like if they were on the floorpans, the danger of having them get up in the engine bay is (literally) past that point. :confused:
