On my Mark IV, 460cid Ford sits this piece of junk called a Motorcraft 4300 carb. The autochoke is hanging up, it's very hard cold starting to say the least. Fortunately mine doesn't leak as I've read on other forums.

I'm not going to chance a rebuild. For $300 I can go brand new. There's no question it's going to have an electric choke. From what I'm reading the Holley 4160 or an Edlebrock 1406 or the Summit SUM-M08600 are good candidates. I'd appreciate any advice from those who have experience of these carbs. I also intend to change out the timeing set to pre-1972 and recurve the distrib. I intend to keep the original camshaft and manifold.

Check the height of the carb for clearance to your hood.
