I met Ken Lingenfelter at Amelia Island, where they introduced the "new" Trans/Am. During dinner I told him that I knew the designer chiefly responsible for the T/A design they emulated. He was head of Pontiac Design at the time.

I contacted Bill Porter and sent him some pictures I took in front of the Ritz. Bill seemed pleased with what he saw and asked that I get the two of them in touch. I told Ken that Bill would like to meet him and see the car. It just so happened that today was an open house for The Lingenfelter Collection.

A-mazing! The drool quotient was way over the top. I put Bill and Ken together and they stuck like glue. They had so much in common that Bill monopolized all his time.

Here are the two gentlemen of renown. Both very approachable and down to earth.

Here's Bill with his babies.

The rest of the stuff. I reiterate, A-mazing!

The new Trans/Am doesn't work for me. I also think the new Camaro fails to grab attention like the original did from a styling standpoint. On the other hand, today's Challenger from Dodge looks great. Very successful retro look. Same for the new Mustangs/Shelbys. The styling takes you back to that classic appearance and era.

The bizarre part is that I understand the new Trans-Am is tied to the new "Smokey and the Bandit" movie...
