an anyone else that might find this interesting.
This is from a home shop machinist forum that I also am a member of. The following is a video of a twin cylinder “V” engine of his own design that he just finished.

Same guy different engine.

YouTube- updated Holt video

This looks simple to do. So will your MKII also have a working engine? :):):)

Thank you Rich for the videos!
With the proper equipment, I could do the same, I have no doubt about it. I don't have it (the equipment) and I will never have it. I'm more interested to do parts/things which requires a steady hand and simple tools, even if it takes much more time.
Therefore, the answer to your question: no, the Mark II will not be motorized. Only the side windows will be electrically operated.

Here are some pictures of a couple engines that I made.
Although they are not quite in the same league as the ones above, still they were fun projects.

A two cylinder double acting steam engine with a reversing mechanism.

This one is an “executive” desk fan. Again it is a twin cylinder double acting steam engine but is meant to run on compressed air. The engine then runs the fan to provide the cool breeze.:)

Hello Rich,
You are indeed a Mad Scientist. Are you a member of the American Fan Collectors Association as am I?
I have a couple hundred fans. There are some which run on air, water and even heat! You'd love the magazine....please do a search on the net.
Thanks,
Keith

No this was a one of a kind project.

A few years back a guy that I have done a lot of work for while visiting one of his clients and ran across a box full of various sided air cylinders that were being thrown out. Knowing that I am always interested in this kind of stuff he grabbed them and gave them to me.

So as a Christmas present that year I decided to make him this fan by using two of the smallest air cylinders. What better way to use compressed air then to run an engine to turn a fan to blow the air around?

I’m known to have built numerous "practical" devices like this.:D

I am aware of the fans that use a Stirling engine. Just build a fire under it to make a cooling breeze.
