Current issue in mail today has a very interesting MK II article with some comments and facts which were new to me. Same issue also highlights the nine cars that were show in Lancaster. Nick, I hope you told those other owners about the forum. Lastly, the magazine prominently repeated the copy I sent in about our forum which was in the previous issue. Maybe we can get some more new members from it. Interestingly, the editors still think my name is "Shirley" ----duh !! All in all this issue is big on Mark II.

Shelly,

I E-mailed the editor of Continental Comments, Tim Howley and told him about the typo on your name. I did get the word out to the Mark II owners at the meet. There are some that are already members here.

Seems that most Americans cannot read. Shirley and Shelly are really far away. If I should get angry when my last name is not written correctly, I would probably be dead since a long time: my name has 2 "N" at the end; most American use only one. It seems that "Zimmerman" (with one "n" at the end) is a common name in the US.

Many names were changed to "Americanize" them. My grandfather's name was Licht, but went by Light, as it didn't sound German. There was a severe stigma attached to anything that sounded German after WWII. That lasted for awhile. My father waited until his parents were dead before he got a German car.
