I know this is slightly off topic because it's not regarding Mark IIs. But maybe some of you have muscle cars in your collection. I'm having the Gardner exhaust system installed on my '64 GTO. I've heard lots of good things. Any personal experiences with this system?

Careful about dealing with those guys.
I got burned pretty bad.
Started asking the same questions as you - but my story went down hill pretty fast.

Sorry to hear you had problems. I had the system put in about a month ago. Happy with it. A perfect reproduction fit for my car. I've only heard great things from others. The system is considered the finest of the GTO exhaust systems. They got awards all over the place from Hemmings muscle machine of the year to the various nationals.

You got lucky - me not so much.
I had to eat the freight both ways - even though I received a substandard component - those guys were, and still are aware there is a problem - and tried to tell me I was the crazy one.
when asked - they inform new customers the problem is corrected - but will not confirm with pictures.
it is not corrected - but apparently only affects the Chevrolet's.
You had better be happy - because you paid 3X's the price then if you had bought the same stuff from Ames restoration.

Not for the GTO system. Ames charges more for whatever it is they sell. Look how good the system looks on my car...

from what I have seen - the most expensive system that Ames offers is Stainless steel -
Gardner does not produce that quality.
The standard GTO system is far less expensive than that Stainless one.
But then at least you would be buying from a company that stands behind their products-
and cares about their customers.
Lucky you did not have a problem, or you would know exactly what I mean.
Customer service is easy when everything goes well -
it is when there is a problem - that quality customer service is most important.
Like an insurance company - they are all wonderful while they are selling you the product -
you want them also to be good when you have a problem or a claim.
I bet you would be pretty unhappy if your muffler came looking like this one:
I sent their system back and it cost me $200.
