This seller has also many Cadillac items for sale at very high prices. Over the years I'm buying many shop manuals, owner's manuals and catalogs at this location; usually he has correct prices.

I've also bought a lot of stuff from him. I think his prices are pretty reasonable.
To me, the "Data Books" are more valuable than the "Color and Upholstery" books. If I didn't have the looming job of replacing the power steering pump on my '64 I'd have bought the book.:( I hope someone here can buy it.

I would, if it could be a help for my project (creating a 1:12 Mark II model from scratch), but it's not: it is similar in layout that the Cadillac data books I have ('56 & '57); therefore I prefer to let it to someone who has the real car.

The last I heard the asking was about $5k. Of course asking isn't getting :D

Sorry, I meant the color and upholstry book but I didn't know it went for $7,500. Ouch!

The color and upholstery books are pretty to look at, but I think the Data Book is much more interesting. I was able to get a '64 Data Book for about $125, and a '65 for less than $100. I've seen them go for as much as $200.
I posted the '64 Data Book on the the Lincoln Forum here:

That will give you an idea of the kind of information that's in the Mark II Data Book.
Some day I'd like to see all of this kind of information available on-line.

So Stan, don't you think $525 is reasonable for the Data Book?

Its difficult to see what condition its in, Yes I would say its reasonable.

I would go for it, but I am trying to sell a couple rooms full of MK II stuff!

Stan what types of Mark II items are you trying to sell? I am in the middle of restoring a 56 Mark and still need several items. Do you have a list?

Thanks

OK, who got it?

I was watching this and considered bidding. It was at $50 for a while then went to $100. In the last minute, it jumped up to $227.50.

Someone got a great deal considering the other one at the top of the string had a buy it now over $500.:D

I didn't see it.:( I might have bought it at that price.
How did the seller have it listed?

LOL.. I was watching it too. I have a suspicion that you may see it back up for sale. I think it was bought by a collector who may plan to "flip" it in the near future.

Funny how many "I was thinking...", "I might have..." "I was..." there are out there. If you snooze, you lose boys. Belly up to the bar & bid for the stuff. Pound for pound, Mark II literature is WAY more valuable than our rattle trap Mark II's will ever be. Always has been, always will be...

I purchased this Data book and will try to scan it and post it if i can figure it out. The book is called a "Data Book", and it appears to be a study guide for the dealership salesmen, not really something that a potential buyer might brouse through. I enjoyed reading through it and will try to figure out how to share it with everyone.

George, just wondering if you ever figured out how to scan the Data Book, or maybe you forgot?

George,

Just for info, I found a method that works for the pamphlets and magazines, etc. that are stapled together. Carefully remove the staples; fold the double pages so you can copy one page at a time. They go through my cheap HP All-in-One copy printer very well. Put the magazine or booklet back together in the right order and carefully reinsert the old or new staples...no damage done. Of course, you have to save a copy in a format with pixels small enough to be under the maximum for Forum attachments. That's where I sometimes have problems, but with documents, rather than pictures, it's pretty easy. Of course, for an actual book, the only way that I have is to make copies on copy machine like at the library and then run those through my scanner. I guess if we had hand held scanners we wouldn't have a problem with any of them. I read about the data book in an article somewhere, it would be great to read it. Sorry that I didn't try to help you before.

I snagged one off of Ebay a few years ago. It sort of explains the workings of the car and gave the salesmen an education on relaying the fine details to prospective customers. It is an interesting read.
