I'm overwhelmed! I never thought that would happen. I was overwhelmed when we hit 100. Most interesting is that a very high percentage of our members actively post. I still have little expectation of increased membership since so many MKII owners are old guys who can't handle the Internet. Look at the LCOC directory and you'll see so many w/o an email address. So our membership number is probably maxing out. My hope is that the members we have stay interested and continue posting.

I think you're underestimating the potential of this site. There are plenty of ADGs out there to fill the needs of new collectors that are web savvy. Wait, Grasshopper, your dreams are too small.

Shelly, this milestone is just another testimony to your perceptiveness in creating the forum. Congratulations and thanks! You may be right about the number of members approaching some upper limit, but I suspect the cars aren't going to go away and there is undoubtedly a new generation of owners standing in the wings who will take the existence of this type of forum as a given as they inherit/acquire our cars from us aging boomers.

Congrats to the Forum on the 200th member! I think they'll be plenty more new members signing up. :D

After all, wasn't there another discussion about the "loss" of Mark II owners between 1980 and current from the LCOC roster? Those owners or their cars have to be in someone's hands still. You might just pick up some of them along the way.

If someone signs up but fails to send back the email confirmation within 5 days, then they are deleted.

That makes sense. Now I remember reading that when I signed up. Shelly, are there any flags like that for inactivity?

Back up to 200.

There are no flags or automatic deletions for inactivity. Do you think there should be?

No, because the forum serves a dual purpose of Registry. For example, my friend Al doesn't seem to post on any forum, so this is not unusual. He's a Ford white collar guy that doesn't know which end of a screwdriver to use so the mechanical aspect is lost on him, yet we'd lose track of his '57 if deleted.

I agree with Barry, but maybe inactive members could be e-mailed after a period of time to see if they still have their car or if they still have an interest in following the Forum.

Great point Barry.
IMO After the initial email confirmation by the registrant they should be welcome here anytime as long as all the Forum rules are maintained. You're also correct that one of the Forum's priorities is to be a registry and, as such, if a member does have a car the VIN be posted if at all possible.

And now there are 300 members! Congratulations yet again to Shelly for recognizing the value in creating the Forum.

I bet Shelly that we would have 500 members in May of next year. I bet him $100, but he said he didn't want to take my money.

Too bad, I'd take his.

When a new registration fails to send the email acknowledgment they are struck. I send them a reminder after 5 days, but if that doesn't cause a response they get struck. This is why we just lost two on the score card.

Thank you, but we all know who the spark plugs are of this forum and they deserve the credit of our success.

July 4th will be our 1st birthday.
