I know that the Mark II hubcaps were made originally for Cadillac, but they turned down the design as too expensive to build or buy. These sure look familiar.

It looks to me like there are fewer than 40 fins on those. I'm guessing 36. (9 per quadrant) JAG

I would say that is what the cadillac saber wheel is based from

If you are looking at the outside of the "wheelcover", you see the form of a rim.
What we see is maybe an aluminum wheel, like the later Sabre wheels, with a small hubcap to hide the nuts.

I will tell you what, I have found sabers cheaper than the mark II hubcaps

Can be. If the Cadillac wheels are in a bad shape like they were on my '56 Biarritz, suddenly the Mark II wheelcovers are cheap compared to the restoration of those steel/aluminum wheels.
