Does anyone know where I can purchase decals for the washer bottle, radiator, air breather, etc.? I tried looking in the Continental Comments magazine and did not find anything.

Also I am interested in finding shocks that are the right travel for the front end of my Mark II. Is there a shock made that can be purchased from a "local" parts store?

Thanks
Harry

One of the LCOC Regions does the stickers. I'll see if I can find out which one.

I'm thinking about air shocks for two reasons. I plan on towing my '56 Chris Craft 18' Continental behind the car for shows. The air shocks will correct for ride height variables, with or without the boat.

Anyone done air shocks on a Mark II?

Jack Rosen has decals and tags , his parts are on line....http://www.markiiparts.com

Have never used air shocks....heard they work quit well.

I went back and looked at all the notes that came with my car and found the following shock part #'s Monroe Gas-Matic (F)5857 - (R)6802, Autolite (F)B7AZ18124A
(R)B7AZ18125B, and something that looks like Shex(F)40096 - (R)40138. Chances are they've been superceded by now but an old parts house may be able to work it forward to a current number.

There are quite a few hand written notes with parts crossovers but it's in pencil and Jim wrote very small. I'm going to see if I can blow it up and get us all the numbers I can.

I had Jack Rosen's shocks (non-air) installed all around 6 months ago and so far they are excellent. Also the price was typical of any other shock you'd buy elsewhere.

Decals are available for the V-12 to 1970's Lincolns/Continental Mark II from the Mid-Atlantic LCOC. Indicate the year & model of your car & request the information sheet with a SASE for decals only to:

Bob O'Hara
21 Merwin Lake Road
Kinderhook, NY 12106

This info can also be found by going to LCOC.org, then "Projects", then "Regional Projects", "Mid-Atlantic Region Projects"...

For the shocks. If you have a major non-chain parts house available they will have a Monroe as well as other brand shock catalog with specs for different shocks.
When I wanted to put air shocks on our '57 T-Bird way back when there was no one doing much about installing air shocks, I went to my parts house with one of the old rear shocks and we went through the catalog looking for a shock with the same ends and the same compressed and extended lengths. It took a while but we found that the air shocks for a 72 Ford Courier were the exact same spec's. Also fit an early Cadillac. They lasted about 12 years/120K miles. Bought Gabrial's the next time and they have been on the car about 17 years and a lot of miles.

Mark II Mark,

Thank you for the info. about the decals. I have tried to call you a couple of times, but have not had any luck. I would love to talk to you more about the Mark II.

Everyone has been so helpful to me. I just recently registered on this forum and have already learned so much from everyone. I wish I would have had access to all this knowledge a few years ago--it would have saved me a lot of headaches!! Sometimes you have to learn the hard way.
