I believe they were built in one plant and the plant burnt down in the 60's

Do a Forum search for "Continental Plant - Pilot Plant - Allen Park" and you'll find a thread that discusses the location of the historic Continental Division headquarters building, including historic and contemporary photos. That building has been expanded since the days of the Mark II, but it's still there. I'm uncertain whether that building was also the entire production facility, but believe both Mark IIs and Edsels were made there.

The plant is still there and it was the sole production source for the Mark II. The plant was built for the project. I've posted several shots of it if you'll do a search.

I believe you're confusing the Rotunda with a production facility. I don't believe Ford has lost an entire plant to fire, however, the power plant at the Rouge was quite the disaster.

I had a chance to follow the "Continental Plant" thread again myself and Barry covered it all in his original posts on that thread. However, it reminded me of the original Mark II press release we have and I dug it out and posted it in the document section--includes a reference to the new production facility and its location.
