Happy New Year to everyone!

I just replaced the water pump on my 57 Continental, got a reman from Jack Rosen. The output shaft appears to be a larger diameter then the old one, in that the pulley will not fit on the shaft. Hole spacing appears to be correct.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Roger

Roger, what is the part number on the front of the water pump casting?

Mark,
I don't know, the car is back in the storage facility, I can find out tomorrow.

Mark,
the part number of the pump is PH 141. At the suggestion of Keith Colonna, used 4 bolts to force the pulley onto the pump flange, worked fine, got the radiator back in, next will be to prime the oil pump.
Thanks to everone

Roger, I've got several different water pumps that I checked on & the casting numbers are as follows:

ECU 8505A - I believe this pump was specifically for a Mark II.

EAD 8505C - No casting number on the oustside face but this number was on the inside face of the casting next to the impeller. I believe this pump is for a Lincoln/Mercury y-block product.

116801 - Cast in small numbers on the top face of the pump. Can't see the inside face as it's installed on the engine.

Since this particular y-block engine was around for lots of years in lots of variations & sizes, what you've got is probably an aftermarket manufactured pump, which is no biggie as long as it works.

As that famous Mark II mechanic Johnny Cochran once said: "If the pulley fits, you must acquit!"
