Well the Zephyr is off being stripped and set up for paint. My wife chose Coach Maroon for a color and they have just stripped the paint (originally black) and pulled the interior for repro in biscuit leather and broadcloth. She wants it for a weekend driver but with the original v12 - it's basically a tarted up 39 Ford very different from the "K"s.

Probably one of my favorite 30's cars. Keep posting as you build it. Should be a looker.

Maroon and burgundy is my favorite colors for a 30's or 40's car. Good choice!

There was a '39 Zephyr in our class at the Glenmoor Gatering this weekend. It was very impressive. My '33 Continental and it both got second-place awards.

If you got any pictures I'd love to see them!

It'll be a few days. I borrowed a friend's camera and he's going to burn a disc and mail it to me. It was an older restoration. Pretty straight car. I lived the way the hood release worked.

The guy had never been in a Concours. Was not sure he'd like it, but had a great time.

Great! I need to find a lot of pics because the car had been partially stripped when I got it - It was sitting in the back of the garage when I got the Mark and the owner said they were going to junk it:eek: My wife likes the look of the car and want to drive it on weekends. It'll be fun to take to the WW II Museum dressed in costume. I'm chasing running board covers and parts for the V12...some things are easy some are vapor...kind of like MK2 parts!

THANKS! That would be great - I have been spoiled by the great responses on this forum and the LZ site needs some sprucing up.

Just got these shots. I also need to get a panel at the lower front (below the grille.) Apparently it was badly repaired, full of bondo and rusted to junk. Does anyone in a dry state know of someplace that might have parts cars for sheetmetal on this old of a car?

Hailing from the great white north, I don't,but have you thought of seeking out someone with an english wheel to fab up a new one? I met a fellow years back that worked miracles, but he's passed away since.

Just got these in from the paint shop - color is on! 1939 Zepher Maroon. 2 clear coats to go and then off to the upholstery shop.http://img.tapatalk.com/ae4675cd-3e44-18aa.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/ae4675cd-3e4d-53a9.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/ae4675cd-3e55-a0b2.jpg

I know someone that just painted a '40 Continental that color. Very nice.

It was a serious pain to match, they also had Royal Maroon (very, very dark), and Ford had Coach Maroon (more red) and the intermix codes were all hard to cross to new paint. It took a lot of time on the phone with PPG to get the mix. Then the painter wanted to punch it up with metal flake (big no way!) Thanks!

I went by the paint shop to get the hinge measurements to order rearview mirrors and the car was assembled and getting ready for the first wet sand! the color is perfect - I wish he had better lights in the bay but wow. Now I get to run down someone who can rebuild the covered running boards. Anyone have a line?

Looking good Joseph!
I don't have any experience with this company, but they look pretty good.
