I am told that there used to be a Mark II registry. I'm convinced that there are far more in existence than are listed in the LCOC directory.
I'm told that one of the "Usual Suspects" has a list, but won't part with it.
How do we start a Registry? I'm going to list my serial number in my sig. Maybe that's a start.

Great idea. I added "MarkII Serial Number" as part of the profile selections as part of registration. Members can use "User CP" to edit and enter the information after registration. It will also appear as part of the data on "Member List". I also placed in on my signature. Avatars should be working now. You're limited as to size. You can also upload a larger "signature" pic.

I have found that people with Mark IIs know other people with Mark IIs. It's the 6° of separation of the automotive world.
The way you have the member list set up it could easily act as a Registry. I don't think it's necessary for one to own a Continental Mark II to be a member but it would be nice to know people's connections to the Mark II.
My first impression from a Mark II was when my parents were looking to buy a mansion on a golf course in the City of Detroit. It had a 5 car garage with electric openers. As the agent opened the doors he explained that the house, and the garage, came furnished. There was a Mark II in the first stall. By then (1966) it was just a 10 year old used car but it left a lasting impression with a very impressionable mind.
I think a proper Registry would have to include the stories that went with their cars, not just their serial numbers.
BTW, they never bought the mansion. My uncle asked my father, as they were about to sign on the proverbial dotted line, "What are the utility bills like?" Once my father found out he walked away from his deposit.
Maybe we could find out what happened to that car.

Hi all!
I know that Jack Rosen has a registry, he can look up your car when you call him. How complete it is I don't know.

I have that same information. What he has, and won't part with, are the current owner's names. It was started by the LCOC, but he won't release the info.
Ask me why I'm not surprised.
Nice to see you here Vance.

OK I'm asking...... I have purchased a few parts from him and found him to be informative and dependable. His catalog on the Interent is informative. I wasn't happy when he didn't refund me 100% on an item I never opened and returned, but he is in business to make a living and not to give charity. He's one of the few sources out there for parts which makes him sort of indispensable.

I'd rather not express my personal feelings on a public forum. Let me just say that I have had the same experience as you, trying to return materials and getting unexplainable deductions.

Personalities aside, what Mark II owners need is more people that can fix, recondition or supply parts. AM I dreaming???
Once the right part is in the hands of a capable mechanic the car is relatively easy to work on. (except for such things as trying to replace instrument panel lamps with a normal size hand --- the back side of my hand is badly scraped. Also I would dread a transmission rebuild as I understand the engine must come out with it from the front end)

I have pictures of that. It's not a pretty sight. Why does your trans need to come out?

No, I only stated that as an example, but I'm hoping it will not be necessary.
My trans hesitates a bit during a shift and at times shifts "hard", BUT it is getting better the more I drive it. I have put on 300 miles since delivery and it's improving, so I'm convinced the trans suffered from lack of use. So my plan is to put more miles on and see what happens. If it doesn't self cure then short of pulling it out for a rebuild I know the bands can be adjusted from underneath the car on a rack. Also Lucas Trans fix is an option. Any comments on trans work?

I had my transmission on my mark and the engine had to come out. I got weary of the transmission leaks and rough shifts. I should have taken photos when the engine was sitting on a block

I also add that adjusting bands is a quick fix. Once the engine comes out it is a good time to have the engine redone and once the transmission is rebuilt by an old school mechanic who has worked on the marks and knows what he is doing and what to expect then the transmission is a smooth shift and you hardly notice any gear change.
