Came across this pic of wire wheels on a MkII. Wasn't the factory going to fit wires before they decided it was to expensive?

I was approached a couple of years ago by the son of a friend who had passed away. Nazz worked on the Mark II project and accumulated a lot of parts along the way. His son was selling a purported Mark II engine with tri-power and a set of wire wheels from a prototype Mark II. He was right about the wheels as his father had showed me the receipt years earlier. The tri-power engine turned out to be a better find, a Turnpike Cruiser engine.
The guy was asking $20,000 for the wheels and something outrageous for the engine. I believe the buyer paid somewhat less than that for everything. Will I be seeing those Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels at Amelia Island at the NPD circle?:D
