Just to say hi from Australia. Don,t have a MkII at the moment, but I'am working on it. Had a 73 LC 4dr for a few years, always been a Ford fan. Current "money pits" are a 65 Galaxie wagon and a 60 F100 panel truck.

Welcome Peter... I hope you do get a MK II. You won't regret it as it gives you a thrill every time you look at it.
Welcome to the forum. I hope you find that Mark II that you're looking for. Quentin (also from Australia) has been participating in the forum. I wonder just how many Mark IIs found their way to Australia? Are they right-hand drive?

Hi Doc, I have no idea how many Mk II are in Aus. Any that are here would be personal imports. Those that have been converted to RHD would probably have been here for quite a few years. All the state authorities have now relaxed the conversion rules and the vehicle only has to be 30+ years old to road register LHD. One that I do know of is this mild custom from Brisbane

Welcome Peterr. I've seen that Brisbane car in print somewhere the grill is pretty distinctive.

Pete,
Welcome to the forum. That's an interesting modified Mark II you posted. The matching red and white balloons are a nice effect. :D

Welcome to the site PeterR.
While somewhat tasteful, that picture sent a shiver down my spine.

Yes. But of all customized ones we have seen that's the best one by far. :)

I don't know, Barry. It's pretty mild. I like the wire wheels. I'll bet he sold the rocker trims to pay for the whole modification. :D

Looks like they're still there and painted, just like the lower bumpers.
I hope he didn't cut up a set of hub caps for the centers of the wire wheels.

Doesn't do a thing for me. I hate the grill.

I believe the wheels are custom built 17" billets made by Dragway Wheels here in Aus, copied on the original covers. I like it, looks as if nothing has been done that can't be put back to original.

I would take a guess that before this car was customized it was probably in very rough shape and this customizing was done to limit having to replace expensive hard to find parts.

I like the grill, but the lowering is too extreme for my taste. I also don't like the missing door handles.
Every time I see a customized Mark II, I'm always struck by how great the car's original lines were. While a little lowering may give them a more contemporary stance, it's still the incredible sweep of the car's original lines that make them look so cool--almost in spite of what some have done to them.
