Hi Henry,

If you are talking about the floor carpets, it is not one piece and not molded like in modern cars. It consists of pieces of carpet that have a binding sewn around them and are held to the floor boards with screws. There are also some Mark II's that have mouton fur for carpet.

Automobile carpet that is offered today is not as thick or as dense as the carpet used in the Mark II, therefore I used household carpet in my car. I took a swatch of leather and an original piece of carpet from my car and went through sample books at the carpet store until I found the right color and closest density and pile. I then had the carpet cut (You can use the original carpet pieces for patterns) and the binding sewn on the individual pieces and installed them in the car.

How bad is your original carpet? Maybe a good cleaning, and dye if faded will make them look new again.

Hi Nick!
The floor carpet its not dirty, but pile is worn. Most on the driverside.
I can live with it for a while, off course...and that "old car smell". I´m working with a smaller restaration, so I´m thinking about lift the floor carpet.
Im gona do like you did...with a sample...first.
Thanks for share...

Guys,
You might be surprized at how good a cleaning and recoloring will work.
It will be much easier and cheaper in any event to replacement and it's already fit and in place.
I just went through the elaborate cutting, binding, serged edges, etc. on my 55 Capri. I helped with all the fitting etc...positioning the correct embossed heel pad...it was a lot of work. IF the orginals weren't already shredded and rotten I would have kept them.
