OK I've got people telling me that the wheel covers from a 58 Mark III (and some say 59 & 60 Mark IV and V) are the same as a Mark II. When I tell them that they are not, they ask me what is the difference, but I don't know. So I was hoping some of you experts could tell me the difference, and if the later years (even if different) will fit on to a Mark II. Thanks Will

The '58 was 14" and the Mark II is 15". The Mark III hubcap is stamped and the Mark II hubcap consists of a disc and 40 individually installed vanes.

Thanks barry: Have you heard of anyone putting 14'' on a mark II ?

Yes, but I think they would look silly. They somehow attached the 14" hubcap to a 15" trim ring. I suppose it could be done. They would look similar, but nowhere near as elegant.

Did you mean 14" wheels? I think they would look funny, out of scale, but that's just my opinion.

While we're on the subject of wheel covers, there's something that maybe someone can answer for me. Why do some fins have flat (squared off) tops, and some have rounded tops?

I believe one end is rounded and the other squared off to fit the hubcap. Just a guess.

No, I'm talking about the leading edge of the fin, where it is bent in the triangular shape. Some have a flat surface on the bend (2 creases) and some have a rounded surface.

My guess would be it was a manufacturing decision. The tooling for the round ones would last longer.

Early production wheel cover fins had the full flat surface. 2nd and 3rd generations had the rounded fins.

Thanks Jack. That's what I thought, but was not sure.
