Well, today I received my production order from The Henry Ford. Now I'm completely confused.
I always understood that the car was delivered to Oakland CA (Uptown Motors). I also have the yellow warranty sheet showing the Dealer and Clients, The Jacuzzi Bros. or Richmond Ca.
I think Nick even confirmed this when I joined here and he looked it up.
The Production order #1326 (remember the engine stamping is #1305?) says that it went to a dealer in Indianapolis, Fred Williams, Jr, Inc. with a finance note of "COD".
Oddly enough it also lists a customer name (which I was told they rarely do) of John McGurk.
The serial No. is hand written (not typed) as C56C2287 which is correct.
I wonder if the order was cancelled somewhere along the way and redirected to Uptown Motors. If anyone has their books handy could you check the listing for C56C2287. Also look and see if any of the numbers around there were for Fred Williams Jr, Inc. Maybe it's a typo.

You can't rely on what you "understood". So many years have past and the facts past on "word to mouth" are subject to much speculation, conjecture and guessing. I would accept the PO information and only modify that information on very strong evidence otherwise.

For example, I understood my car was originally sold in LA to tennis star Rod Laver. When I got the PO I found out it was originall sold in LA to Gerald J. Shea who I googled and discovered was first place Men's 1955 Single's Tennis Association winner. So you see how things get screwed up, and Rod Laver is out of the picture until I learn otherwise with strong support.

Chuck,

As I said before, in my copy of the Mark II encyclopedia, your car was delivered to Uptown Motors in Oakland and bought by Jacuzzi. Do you think they sent you the wrong PO? Barry has the later 2 volume edition. Maybe he can look and see what his says about your car.

I've followed this up with a nice email exchange with a very helpful lady at The Henry Ford. I explained the issues and she has rechecked and even spoke to one of the research folks. They don't think there's much else they could find on the car.
I'm confident that the information that I have with the car and is supported in the Encyclopedia. I'm still curious why the encyclopedia got it right if the info was taken from the production orders, but oh well.
