I know you might have difficulty viewing my MarkII with Plastic hubcaps.
I drive everywhere without thinking about loosing the original ill fitting hubcaps.
Every time I drove this car I use to always worry that I would loose a hubcap and it would scratch the fender when it came off, now I never think about it.

Believe me no one but a Mark II owner would know the difference.
Joe Blow out there, hasn't a clue.

I too have my original hubcaps safely riding in the trunk. Being able to drive without concern that my originals will pop off, scratch the car and then get run over or otherwise smashed up is pure pleasure. After having that happen twice I use to drive as tense as you can imagine. Hooray for these shiney, plastic $15 near look-a-likes!!

I remember reading a blurb in Buddy's book about that problem. He suggested drilling and countersinking 2 screws (somewhere) through the caps and, I guess, into the wheel. Upon first reading that I dismissed it as just plain silly. He even went into detail about making sure it was in the recessed portion (black) and touching up the head of the screw. I'm going to look at it again a try to figure out where he meant to drill it and not to drill the tire.
Being a metal guy, I'm going to try to figure how to either modify the spring mountings or weld a "nub" on the wheel to make the bite tighter. More study.
