I noticed a listing for the letters on the trunk. They also noted "watch for hundreds of Mark II parts to be listed, we also have a complete parts car we are parting out."

I e-mailed them to suggest listing the parts on here for a dedicated audience.:D

I just bought a rebuilt brake booster pump from them over last weekend. I've exchanged emals with them There's not too much left. She also sent me the vin # I'll try to post the photos as soon as I get them trimmed down. Vin # is C56H3212

Have you got any info in the magic book? ;)

It was a DSO car. It had a special interior that was all Deep Red. Everything.

Exterior, Dark Gray Irridescent. Must have been stunning.

You got that right Barry. Nice combo and a DSO car no less. The deep gray is a very rich looking color IMO.

I see it has the heat shield. A rare find in itself. My Mark II was the only one that had one at Lancaster. When I pointed it out, someone told me that they were not originally installed. But after talking to elders in LCOC, i think they were. But most times when the units were rebuilt or changed, they were never re-installed. It's purpose is to deflect heat from the exhaust pipe, which runs right underneath the unit on it's way into the fender, away from the unit to prevent brake fade.

No mention of heat shield in parts or service manual. Might have been a running change due to field feedback. Don't think the early cars had them.

Is the forum capable of taking a survey on how many cars here have the heat shield on the brake booster? Just curious to see how many cars are equipped with them.

Where do you see the heat shield? In the spare part dept. (trunk?)

Chuck,

It's mounted underneath the brake booster. It is clamped to the front (skinny part) of the master cylinder.

Go to Ebay Mark II Completed listings. I can't import the picture. I tried to copy and paste it, but it says the pic is no longer available.

Figured that as that was the most recent one for sale. Your pic links didn't work. Now your post disappeared too. ??? It's the fan like shield and mounts to the bottom that I'm talking about. Is the top and the filler cap on it copper? Mine was until they rebuilt it in Feb. It came back with the copper painted black and when they judged my car in Lancaster, I lost points because of it. They (the judges) say it's supposed to be polished copper, but it doesn't mention anything about it in the authenticity manual. It just says the body of the booster is painted black and the master is unpainted, BUT the old authenticity manual says the master is to be painted in a phosphate green. So much controversary. I personally think they varied over the 2 years of production.

Back to your question... I just checked my original booster and find that it does not have the shield.
I think my booster is OK but this one came up, rebuilt, so I grabbed it. I'm going to start going through the brake system soon and not sure what I'll find. I'm not sure they would be too plentiful when you needed one.

I have a spare too, but I won't have it rebuilt until I need it. I also have cores for a fuel pump and carb. The only thing I have on the shelf rebuilt is a P/S pump.
