Glenn Kramer, President of the national LCOC, has offered ALL Mark II owners a 1-day membership for July 30th so that you may show your car at the national meet without being an LCOC member. You may show it in competition or exhibition class where it won't be judged. You would pay the same fees as members to have your car judged or a lesser fee to be on the show field in the exhibition class.

The Mark II will be the featured car for this meet. They would love to have a strong showing of Mark IIs to further honor LCOC member #1, William Clay Ford, who has agreed to be the guest speaker at the awards banquet. I still have a couple of spaces available in the World Headquarters display that I've kept open for LCOC members. I'd like to open one of them up to a non-LCOC member if anyone is interested. The cars will be installed in the lobby from the beginning of July through their removal on the Thursday or Friday before the show.

You can have your car shipped to Ford where it would be kept in the executive garage. When the cars are all assembled, they will be driven into the building through a side entrance of their commons behind the main building. You can be there to drive your own car in, or their skilled handlers will do that for you. The Mark II makes for some tight maneuvering around the last bend but fit just fine.

Glenn Kramer is a member here. Please PM him with any of your questions regarding non-member participation, and please PM me if your car is a stunner. I may chose by color, simply for aesthetics. I have contacted Ford's historian and asked for display items that would be appropriate. My first request is the book with all the competitors' entries in the design competition. If anyone has something of historic value and would like it displayed, please let me know.

I would like to drive my car to Detroit on Friday the 29th. Participate with the car on Saturday and return to Chicago on Sunday or Monday. Where would you suggest I reserve a room? Perhaps Mark II Forum members can get together for a dinner event Friday night. Possibly there may be 10 of us who would like to get together. IS the Awards Banquet still open?

The meet is actually at the Centerpoint Hotel in Pontiac. I believe they still have openings.

If any Mark II Forum members are going to attend, you have to get your registration in before July 9, 2011. Here's a link to download the meet packet:
http://lcoc2011mam.com/

Then click on Register Forms at the top, scroll down, and put in your info to download a PDF of the files.

All the information one needs is on the website. Hotel info is also there.

To date, we have received zero Mark II registrations from any non-LCOC members. Mark II Forum members do not need to be LCOC members to attend this meet.

I’m showing my car at Concours of America and was looking forward to attending the LCOC meet on Saturday and hopefully meeting Forum members. Two of my traveling companions are LCOC members but not the MK II Forum, one is not a member of either. The posts above raises some questions about my plans.

Do we have to register and pay the $20 fee to attend Saturday as spectators only?

A little research and I answered my own question……. For anyone who has the same question, the answer is “no”. If you are attending as a spectator, and not showing a car or participating in events, there is no registration or fee.

My question may have seemed strange, but it was considered by another car club. The fee for spectators idea was met with such an outcry by the membership it was ultimately dropped

Barry,

Look forward to meeting you likewise. I’m always intrigued to meet the person behind the written word on a club forum. I’ve made many long term friends from the CLC Board.

Will you have your MK II at the LCOC meet? It’s on my bucket list of cars to see in person.

I’m traveling in good company. My friend hauling my car tells me I’ll be sharing the trailer with a MK II. I think I know who it is but want to contact him before mentioning his name….

Any other Forum members attending?

It's doubtful that I'll ever show any of my cars in LCOC events. Not a fan of points judging. That's why I've gravitated to the Concours circuit. I like people telling what they like about my car, not what's wrong with it.

However, I live but a few miles from the the COA. You're welcome to stop by any time during that weekend.

Barry,

Thanks for the kind offer. We have a planned, “consensus” itinerary – but, I’m driving so it’s subject to change. I will contact you well in advance if I can get to your place.

Spectating is free. Parking on the show field is not. The registration does get you more than a badge. Access to the hospitality room and refreshments is one benefit.

My wife and I are planning to attend, arriving Friday. Will only be exhibiting our car. Hope our good old Canada Post gets my $ there on time. Look forward to meeting some fellow enthusiasts.

I'm happy to report that I'll be at the Michigan show along with Dave on the 29th, 30th and 31st. We're booking our reservation today. Our plans are to see the Ford Museum Friday afternoon and the rest of the time at the event. I hope to see some of our forum members. Also going to book both dinners. Barry, do you need a jacket for Sat night?

The Ford Museum is something to see, went there about 15 years ago, but you really need two days to see it all.
One to walk around in the museum and one to see all the stuff outside.

Sorry to report we're not going to get there now as we had planned. We may still get over for Sunday.

The cut off for vehicle registration for the Michigan show is tomorrow. The Thursday and Friday events are nearly or completely full (no more room on the bus). Exhibition vehicles (no judging) will be accepted after the deadline for about a week. After that, we can't guarantee a spot on the show field.

To download meet paperwork, follow this link: http://www.mitchcarrphotography.com/mam_regform.html

If you are sending in your registration late, you better email the registrar (my wife) at mi.registrar@gmail.com with info that it is coming and she may be able to tell you what is full.

Hey Shelly,

Just to let you know they are doing some remodeling on the Henry Ford Museum, so the car display is not open to see. However, most of the other indoor stuff is open. The Presidential limos are still on display. Just thought I would let you know.

Good News, I'm not packing heavy. Dave and I will be at the events wearing our very prominent red "Mark II Forum T-Shirts". If you should see us please do not hesitate to say hello.

My brother passed away last night. Melanoma (initially a skin cancer) metastasized to vital organs and quickly took him. Dave and I will not be at the LCOC show next week end.

Gentlemen,

Does anyone know the schedule of events for this show?

What time does the show field open to the public?
What time is the awards ceremony a or when do the cars leave the field?

I looked at the web site but didn't see anything posted.

Thanks,

Ralph

How many Mark IIs appeared at the meet, held July 30?

Barry Wolk
09-10-2011, 03:41 PM
Unfortunately, no. Purportedly he was busy with the NFL players negotiations. he was supposed to attend the Meet instead, but I don't know it that happened, either.
