Factory Headlamp Dimmer

Does anyone have a factory installed headlamp dimmer, and if so, is it operational? Mine has one; it is all there, but not working.

I know this may be a silly question but where does the "eye" for the automatic dimmer mount and what does it look like?

Automatic dimmer???? Was that an option? I thought it was only Air and Seat Belts were the only options????

It was an approved dealer add-on, from what I've read. I don't think any came with it, but I could be wrong. There is no schematic for it in the electrical diagrams. There is no mention of it in the Technical Data manual. I don't think it was a Ford product.

Seat belts were not offered as an option until late in production. In fact, of the 29 or so cars equipped, most of them went to Ford execs. My research leads me to believe that these cars also had padded dashes and sun visors.

Could be some interesting speculation as to why the big boys got 'em, and nobody else. I tried reaching a couple of people listed in the CC directory and only one responded that they no longer had the car and wouldn't provide addition information. I'd love to see a factory installation.

A good friend of mine in town had one with an automatic headlamp dimmer it actually looked really good on it. Also Barry the padded dash was an option? My Mark II when we bought it had a padded dash, sun visors, and seatbelts.

What's your serial number? I'll look it up to see if they are original, or a retrofit.

My serial number is C5691371 but I know for sure the padded dash and padded sun visors are original but not sure about the seat belts.

Nope, yours are not padded, just plump, like the rest of the originals. The padded ones were really thick. Your seat belts are not original as there is no listing for them on the P.O.

The only options on your car were bumper guards and air conditioning. There is no DSO for your car.

It might actually be easier to strip out the old guts and replace it with new electronics rather then trying to fix the old parts.

This is a relatively simple circuit.

That doesn't look too difficult:), it's a little more complex then what I would do. But then that's 50 year old technology.
