Thanks Richard. Those ads are hilarious. I didn't realize how fortunate we are to have bought cars with trunk monkeys. Now we know why there are so many Mark IIs still around. You made my day.

Is there any chance that Ford recalled the jacks without offering a replacement? They don't look like they would be strong enough to hold such a heavy car. What about stability if you are on any sort of incline like the shoulder of a road?

I've never found any evidence of a recall. Any car jacked up on an incline shivers my timbers.

No recall that I've ever heard of. I've used min to change a tire and has no problem. The screw needs to be properly lubricated to work well.
