Hi there

I know the paint colour thing has been covered before but does anyone have a good pic of a 08 Deep Bronze car?

I just wanted to compare it to one I'm looking at

Thanks in advance

I just noticed it's the same colour as Shelly's car

How close is it to yours Shelly?

Yes, that's my color exactly. There's a "not very good" picture of it in the Car of The Month thread. I have good pictures on the home computer but I won't be there till SAt.

Shelly, your car is metal flake. The original bronze was not, I don't believe.

You guys spell color funny.

The car looks nice, but I hate the fender skirts.

I see the 08 colour as being listed iridescent, doesn't the suggest metallic?

I agree with Barry in that some how the fender skirts look out of place. Otherwise, the exterior and interior colour combination is very classy. Gary

Metallic, but not heavy metal flake like Shelly's, as I remember it.

Must say I'm not that fussed with the skirts but easily removed
So how does the C O L O U R (funny spelling eh?) look?
Close to original?

Really hard to tell from the digital picture. Looks right. What colour was it originally?

If you fellows would pay attention to your French heritage and know that Louisiana exists, then you would know of our French underpinnings. Merci. Gary

No French in my heritage.

It's originally 08 1B6H so it all matches up

What the hell has France got to do with Australia? We're just English convicts:)

Nothing. Gary's middle name is DeRail.

Nothing. Gary's middle name is DeRail.

And proud of it monsieur. Just so everyone is clear, the spelling of the word colour is a derivative of the French spelling. Gary

Nothing. Gary's middle name is DeRail.

Now that's funny, lol...this Forum is so entertaining at times. (But actually, I think the DeRail name originated in Quebec, not BC).

That's even funnier, since I made up the name. Are you serious?

OK, Gary. The French word is couleur; to me, if it's writen "Color" or Colour" it makes no difference...If you like I can tell it "teinte"!

Metallic, but not heavy metal flake like Shelly's, as I remember it.

To paraphrase some actor from down under that’s not metalflake this is metalflake.

My car's paint is not "heavy" metal flake. Yes, I detect a slight and desirable metallic flake appearance but it is very subdued and gives the deep bronze color added life or brilliance. I have never seen a stock original 08, but if my refinished job is not as stock then I'd be willing to say its probably an improvement over stock.

I had a diamond dust to the paint on my Thunderbird as I said and it brought the paint to life. Perhaps not original but to me an improvement. Gary

Metallics and iridescents of this era had very fine metallic particles. They were very much like the silver and medium gray used on today’s BMW’s. You know it’s metallic, but the particles are too small to pick out individually. The courser grain factory colors were first used by – dare I say it: Cadillac - with the introduction of Firemist colors in 1963. From then on the metal flake grew more pronounced. IMHO, the Lincoln Moondust paints of the 70’s were a dream come true for all 50’s kids who dreamed of Barris paint job...Hopefully by then, if they worked hard, they could afford a Lincoln or Continental.

Iridescent finishes appear to change color as you view them from different angles. (oil in water, rainbow, or tuner flip-flop paints) The Mark II finish you guys are describing sounds less like metallic or metal flake and more like a pearlescent. Similar to what Cadillac, Lexus and Infiniti had @ 7-10 years ago.

I also know that the marketers wouldn't let a little thing like accuracy get in the way of their artistic license when it comes to the nonsense of naming car colors.:D

Most definitely in my opinion. The metallic give the finish more "life".
