Barry,
Will you be able to utilize the brightness of the LEDs to enhance the performance of your taillight lenses without the dot, dot, dot look on current OEM applications? The sort of sideways teardroppy ovals are nice looking even if dim. It would be nice to retain the full effect of their styling- just exponentially brighter.

My complaint is I see vehicles with say square taillights, but if they contain a circle of LED dots all I really see are round dotted taillights and it ruins the effect of whatever shape the stylists chose for the lens in favor of tractor trailer lights.

The units I got for the Porsche have three dots that are close together. They are distinct on the Porsche lens as the lights are right up against the beehive lens. I think they light would be diffused by the Mark II lens.

I too wonder about the diffusing effect (?) of more complex lenses than those on your Porsche. I also wonder in a more general sense if there is value in shielding LEDs to get more of an intense glow than dotted effect without defeating their purpose --the brightness. (longevity and efficiency aside)

On that note, with them installed is the look in your Porsche dash one of uniformly bright gauges or do they provide "hot spots" behind the face like the dotted taillight look. I know you'll be candid as usual.:D

Barry, not being familiar with how your Porsche's rear lenses are configured this may be a dumb question/comment but when trying to retrofit LED's to an older lamp I've run into a problem where the lights are extremely directional and don't give much "side" light. I've always attributed this to the design of the old style reflectors not being compatible. Considering the design of the Mark's rear lamps is there something new you can point me/us towards?

Me? I went out to shoot the dash, but found I left the key on and the battery is stone dead.:(

Doh! battery disconnect switches don't work if you don't flip 'em:D

I guess it isn't always the clocks that run our Mark II batteries down...speaking of, I'm back and forth as to embracing modern autos and their technology, but I do appreciate the bit where after 10 or 20 minutes of parked inactivity, the computers shut down non-essential functions eliminating alot of these kinds of drains like interior lights left on etc..

Of course the Yin to that Yan is that after about 3 straight weeks of non use a modern car's battery will be dead from the computer monitoring that had been so helpful...and so it goes round and round...
