Replaced my rapidly deteriorating leather, went with a vinyl and a cloth fabric for the center. The colors are “essentially” the same as the original. Also had the steering wheel covered with the same fuzzy fabric material. Much nicer feel, no more slippery steering wheel. :) Oh yes there are corner seams. But I don’t have any problem with that as it was the most practical way to redo them. The cloth material is kind if interesting in that is has a vinyl backing thus making it stronger and more tear resistant.

Looks nice Rich. Sure beats worn and torn.

It sure does! I'm sure there will be some grumbling from the purists among us, and I will further offend the sensibilities of the all leather crowd, but cloth biscuits give the interior a depth and texture that outshines the relative flatness of smooth leather interiors even in two-tone. I'm envious.

Looks classy. As you can tell from my posts, I am not a purist, but admire things done that look original and classy and yours fits the bill. Gary

Rich,
It looks great! I live in the Chicago area and am interested to learn who did this work. My upholstery was redone in leather about 12 years ago, but was poorly installed. I'd like to see if someone could freshen it up a bit.

Rich... looks great. I'm anxious to see it "in person". Enjoy!

For those in the greater Chicagoland area that might be interested in getting some upholstery work done the place I went to is Guven Custom Trim & Upholstery.
He is just south of route 19 going into Elgin (auto dealer row) and behind the now closed McGrath Honda.

It is a small shop looks like he can only get three cars in at a time, or maybe only two if one is a MKII.:D Anyway I am happy with the quality of his work. Found him at one of the car shows I went to and others there spoke highly of him.

He also had the best price ($1600) of three other upholsters that I got quotes from. The guy with the highest quote said he would be happy to do the same thing for $4500 plus materials.

Was that just for the seats, or did that also include door panels?

Just the dried out and cracked seats. Nothing else needed replacing.
