I have a new reproduction gear shift lever I'd like to use to replace the one the car came with... a Mark II lever with an ugly rubber knob. Does anyone know if I can remove the knob from the new reproduction lever? Is it pressed on, glued on? Switching a lever the legitimate way looks very difficult and the knob on the end is really all I care about. Suggestions?

A hacksaw and some duct tape, but first I would try unscrewing it.

The door handles and turn signal arm are screwed on thus I would expect the gear shift to be the same.

Vance, I seem to remember when I spoke to Dennis (Quality Restorations) regarding the replacement of knobs etc. He mentioned heating them up to soften them. A heat gun might be ok if you don't get it too hot. Maybe a hair dryer.

Is it possible to contact the manufacturer to ask if the parts were glued or press fit together? They could steer you in a direction that lowers the risk of damaging your part.

It worked! Pulled and twisted... it came off. Thanks everyone.
