I have 2 front fender emblems in a cardboard box in the trunk of the car ... but I think they would look better actually mounted on the fenders!

But ... where? how?

Where? Lower front fenders but can someone supply precise position please?
How? I will need to take another look at them and see if they are flush mount or post mount through drilled hole(s)?
That would determine if they are adhesive or post mounted with a speed nut.

Someone must have mudded up the holes in your fenders. You should see signs of their location from the inside. I think there are two holes. One for the stud and another as a locating pin. Here's where they go.

If I remember correctly, there ar two studs for positioning (so it doesn't twirl around). One on each arm of the star and the mounting is in the center of the star. They are mounted with nuts, no glue.

Like Barry suggested, look behind the fender for traces of the existing holes. If you can't find them, I think the inches up and inches from the fender well are either in the Mark II encyclopedia or Buddy Holiday's book. Barry, can you look in the encyclopedia? I'm at work now and my books are at home.

I don't ever remember seeing that, but I'll look.

The main mounting hole is 3” up and 3” in front the tire opening.
Directly behind the that hole there is about a ¾” hole in the inner fender wall to provide access to put the nut on.

My fender emblem holes had been puttied over during a repaint before I bought the car. The mud shields block access from the front wheel well, but you could barely look into the pocket from the back to see the putty coming through. There was no access hole from the factory...at least on my car.
We measured the approx. location using measurements in Buddy Holly's book.
We taped over that area and punched from the back....very carefullly.
But here's the real trick....we had to push the fender away from the frame far enough away to get our hands in there to put the nut on the bolt on the emblems. I thought about shaving off the nipples and bolt on my emblems and gluing them on as some people recommended...but decided to stay authentic and glad I did.

Thanks for the info Keith. I knew I saw that diagram in either Buddy Holiday's book or the Mark II encyclopedia.

Unlike today's glued on plastic trim, the Mark II fender emblems are made of metal and relatively heavy. I don't think they would stay on long glued to the paint.
